Vintage Christie at the Masque

Agatha Christie's plays have become perennial favourites in Muizenberg. This year the choice of play is “Towards Zero” which opens a the Masque Theatre on Friday 05 March.

A character in the play expounds a theory of murder that the audience can only assume is the playwright's own. Murders, he says, begin long before they are actually perpetrated and advance step by step toward that “zero hour”.

Neville Strange has invited both his first and second wife to spend the summer holidays at the home of his former guardian. A murder takes place.... Now Christie's trademark twists and turns come into play with the audience attempting to sort out the culprits from the red herrings. Trying to figure out whodunnit in a Christie mystery is like trying to get out of a maze when the walls keep moving.

Jane Philbrick directs “Towards Zero” for the Fish Hoek Dramatic Society.

It runs on Friday 05, Saturday 06, Wednesday 10, Thursday 11, Friday 12 and Saturday 13 March.

Weeknights are at 20h00 and Saturdays at 14h30 and 18h30.

Tickets are R50 (Wednesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday afternoons) and R60 (Friday and Saturday nights).

Fun Cabaret at the Masque

Cape Town's newest burlesque inspired cabaret group, ROCK 'N ROUGE , invites you to an evening of fun, laughter and entertainment. Covering a variety of famous and not so famous hits from musicals, including A Chorus Line, Cabaret, Avenue Q and We Will Rock You, ROCK 'N ROUGE promises a show filled with comedy, glamour, song, dance, and  little bit of naughty.

The group consists of thespians Luella Holland (Pop Princess), Chenara Fenton (Jazzy Jezzebel), Jennifer Moss (Delectable Diva) and Julian Fernandez (Juicy Gentleman), who all met while performing in various shows in Cape Town, the UK and Germany. Having all come from different musical backgrounds (pop, jazz, classical and musical theatre), they fuse together beautifully to bring you a ROCKING show with a touch of ROUGE.

Off-Broadway Smash-Hit for the Masque

BigLeaf Productions kicks off its 2010 Season with the hilarious musical comedy revue - “I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change" with Music by Jimmy Roberts and Lyrics by Joe Dipietro.

From the reality of kids coming and going, to finding someone to grow old with, "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change" will have you tapping your feet along with smash-hits such as "Single Man Drought", "He Called Me", "Always a Bridesmaid", "Marriage Tango", and "Waiting".

Everything you have ever secretly thought about dating, romance, marriage, lovers, husbands, wives and in-laws, but were afraid to admit, is presented in this collection of hilarious scenarios depicting the age-old ritual of the suburban mating game.

The cast compises Adam du Plessis, Niall Griffin, Shannyn Fourie and Candice van Litsenborgh who collectively bring to the production a range of performance experiences, having played both leading and supporting roles in national and international productions of "Hair", "Jesus Christ Superstar", "Chess", "Beauty and the Beast" and "Cats" among others.

Directed by award-winning Paul Griffiths with Musical Direction by Roland Perold and Design by Niall Griffin, this production has a limited season at the Masque Theatre before moving on to a National Tour. This highly entertaining show is the second-longest-running off-Broadway musical so book early to avoid disappointment.

“I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change” opens on Wednesday 17 with a preview and runs until Saturday 27 March (excluding Sunday to Tuesday). Weeknights are at 20h00 and Saturdays at 14h30 and 18h30.
